New Construction

Enable new construction projects with safer, code-compliant, future‑ready cellular communicators for fire and intrusion.

Challenge:
Implementing and deploying robust security solutions in new builds has long been a challenge for those working on New Construction projects. Often times, vulnerabilities and unforeseen costs also figure into the equation – a scenario that could be avoided if security considerations were taken into account during the early planning stages. Pre-construction planning such as design, door hardware, walls, cabling pathways, and head-end spaces should include the security system integrator’s input so all can understand at the outset the environment’s specific risks and vulnerabilities and specify the solutions best suited to the new build. Fire and intrusion risks rank high on the list.

And when it comes to fire and intrusion alarm protection, another serious security challenge is the common misconception that using plain old telephone service (POTS) on new alarm system installs is the only option. That is simply not the case, as POTs are sunsetting and traditional phone lines are becoming obsolete.

Couple this with the fact that relying on POTS may cause delayed installation dates or come with a hefty monthly price tag. Even if POTS are implemented in the short term, constant changes in the technology and lack of maintenance by the telephone companies have rendered it essentially the least viable communication option for new alarm systems. Use of POTS eventually leads to future and costly truck rolls and troubleshooting for integrators which equates to lost time and money for all involved. All these challenges negatively impact decision-making, especially when it comes to new construction projects.

Solution:
The solution is clear. Because POTS is going away, the time to transition to cellular communication is now. Replacing POTS in communications from the premises to the central monitoring station continues to position cellular technology as the method of choice.

Cellular networks deliver much more reliability than traditional phone lines, enabling your fire and intrusion alarm signals to be transmitted much more quickly for a prompt and effective response. Furthermore, when it comes to adding redundancy to a commercial installation, our dual-path communicators offer tremendous value and extended product life thanks to the use of LTE-M cellular technology and internet pathways.
